Biography

Ray was born 5 Jul 1875 in Fayette, Iowa. He was the son of Martin H Fussell and Mary L Kingsburg.[1]

In 1880 he was living in Westfield, Fayette, Iowa.[2] The household included Martin Fussel age 28 born in Iowa, wife Mary L Fussel age 26 born in Illinois, son Roy Fussel age 4 born in Iowa and daughter May Fussel age 2 born in Iowa. Martin was a farmer.

In 1895 he was living in Fayette, Iowa.[3] The household included Martin H Fussell age 42, Mary L Fussell age 41, Roy R Fussell age 19, May Fussell age 17 and Alma I Fussell age 7. Mary was born in Illinois; the others were born in Fayette County, Iowa. Martin was a farmer.

Ella Jane Cook and Roy R Frissell (sic - Fussell) were married 25 Jan 1899 in Vernon Prairie, Clinton, Iowa.[4] He was the son of Martin H. Frissell and Mary Kingsbury.

In June 1900 he was living in Westfield Township, Fayette, Iowa.[5] The household included Roy R Fussell age 25, wife Ella J Fussell age 23, daughter Elsie M Fussell age 9 months and laborer Charles B Hotman age 24, all born in Iowa. Roy was a farmer. Ella was the mother of 1 child, living. Charles was a farm laborer. Orian Fussell lived nearby.

In 1910 he was living in Westfield, Fayette, Iowa.[6] The household included Roy R Fussell age 34, wife Ella J Fussell age 32, daughter Elsie M Fussell age 10 and son Raymond C Fussell age 8, all born in Iowa. Roy was a farmer on a general farm. Ella was the mother of 2 children, both living. Elias C Fussell lived nearby.

In 1925 he was living in Fayette, Fayette, Iowa.[8] The household included Roy R Fussell age 49, wife Ella J Fussell age 47, daughter Elsie M Fussell age 24 and son Raymond C Fussell age 23, all born in Iowa. Everyone in the family had attended college.

In 1930 he was living in Fayette, Fayette, Iowa.[9] The household included Roy R Fussell age 54 and wife Ella C Fussell age 52, both born in Iowa. Roy was proprietor of a retail drug store. Ella was manager of a shipping association.

In 1940 he was living in Fayette, Fayette Township, Fayette, Iowa.[10] The household included Roy Hussell age 64 born in Iowa, wife Ella Hussell age 62 born in Iowa and mother-in-law Mary Cook age 93 born in Illinois.

He died 21 Mar 1941 in Fayette, Fayette, Iowa.[11] He committed suicide by hanging and strychnine poisoning.

He is buried in Grandview Cemetery, Fayette, Fayette County, Iowa.[12]
