  • Thomas listed in Cumberland Co., VA in 1704 ? also Listed as tax payer in "Virginia Tax Payers, 1782-1787" in Henry County. MAY BE THIS THOMAS' SON, THOMAS Jr., SO FOR RECORD...

Virgina Tax Payers 1782-87 lists 3 Gadberry's, John, Thomas & William 1787 CENSUS OF VA, VOLUMN 3: There is a Thomas Sr., (page 1073) with 3 cattle in Henrico County and a Thomas, Jr., (page 1074) with 2 horses & 6 cattle in Henrico County

Likely that Thomas was a member of the Church of England, Blisland Parish, which may be helpful in further research. Consult the following THE VESTRY BOOK of STRATTON MAJOR PARISH,KING & QUEEN COUNTY, VA 1729-1783 (1931) and... THE VESTRY BOOK of PETSWORTH PARISH, GLOUCESTER COUNTY, VA 1677-1793 (1933). and the book that may be the best for Gadberry research is THE VESTRY BOOK of BLISLAND PARISH, NEW KENT & JAMES CITY COUNTIES, VA 1721-1786 [1] From "Reports from Overseers of the Poor, 1787-Henrico Co., VA" The names listed are those indigents for whom the county assumed the financial support; they may have been men unable to provide for themselves, widows, and orphans. The amounts levied are the amounts allowed these persons for their upkeep. The amounts allotted the individuals were first reported in pounds of tobacco and then translated into pounds and shillings. The total amounts were assessed proportionally of all of the tithables in the country. At a meeting of the Overseers of the Poor of the 2nd District in the County of Henrico on the 30th of July 1787 the following allowances were made to the poor of the said District. to wit Thomas Gadberry and wife 1200

According to "Virginia in 1760: A reconstruction census",[3]: Thomas Gadberry, Jr. was in Henrico Co. Listed as tax payer in "Virginia Tax Payers, 1782-1787" in Henry County. MAY NOT BE THIS THOMAS Sr's SON, THOMAS, BUT FOR RECORD...

[4] The will of William Street, dated 18 jul 1776, includes provision for his daughter, Prudence Gadberry, her husband, Thomas Gadberry, and their son William Gadberry.

In 1794 Thomas & Prudence Gadberry were witnesses to the marriage of Elizabeth Gadberry and Obediah Gordon, and in 1782 William Gadberry wassurity for a marriage of a John Howell to an unnamed bride (clerkserror).

William Gadberry is in Cumberland County, VA on the 1784 census, and Prudence is listed in the 1810 Henrico Co., VA census index. No Thomas listed on the 1810 census with Prudence! He probably died prior to 1810.
