Ethel was born in 1880. She was the daughter of John Gadd and Mary Ann Adams. ^{[1] [2]}

She married John Thomas Hickman in 1903. ^[3]

They had several children before emigrating to the U.S. and settling in New York. ^[4]

By 1930, they were living in Michigan. ^[5]

She died in 1971. ^[6]
