Major General Frederick Gadsden was born about 1831.
Gadsden was commissioned into the British Army and deployed to Bengal, India. Promotion to Captain was gazetted in 1866.[1] He was promoted Major in 1870.[2]
He passed away, aged 68 years, in 1899 at Brentford, Middlesex, England.[3]

Obituary ... On the 24th, at Ealing, aged 68, Major-General Frederick Gadsden. Joined the Madras Army, 1850 ; served through the Burmese War, 1852, and the Indian Mutiny, 1857.
