Mary (Gairns) Wright was born in Australia

Mary Alberta "Maimie" Gairns was born on 28 January 1901 in Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia. She was the eldest of two kown children born to Mailman father Alexander Edward Gairns aand his wife Gertrude Fannie Elliott. ^[1]

She commenced her education at the Cloncurry State School, Cloncurry, Queensland on 20 January 1909 with her younger brother Leslie according to the Cloncurry School Admissions Register.

At the age of 20, Maimie was wed to Stockman Vincent Sydney Wright at Duchess, Queensland on 11 January 1922. ^[2][3]

They had one known child.

By March 1924 the couple had separated, and a review of a spousal maintenance order against Vincent was requested for a reduction to 1d. a week was examined in the Cloncurry Police Court in March 1925 . ^[4]

The following year, in 1926, the couple were residing in Cloncurry, Queensland where Vincent was working as a Stockman. ^[5]

In 1931, Maimie and Vincent were both living in Mt Isa, Queensland at separate addresses where Mary was a Barmaid, and Vincent was a Stockman. ^[6]

Maimie had moved again by 1937 to Townsville, Queensland where she was staying at Wyatt's, Railway Avenue, and working as a Storekeeper. ^[7]

She was residing at 45 Edmondstone Street, South Brisbane, Brisbane, Queensland by 1949. ^[8]

She passed away on 1 July 1983 at the age of 82 years at Paddington, Brisbane and was cremated on 6 July 1983 at the Mount Thompson Crematorium, Holland Park, Brisbane, Queensland.
