Biography

Patrick was born in 1838. He was the son of Michael Gallwey and Catherine Fitzgerald He was gazetted in Royal Artillery Oct 1857, Capt 1869, Col 1890, Brigade-Major to Inspector-Gen of Artillery in India 1873-78, later Dep Director-Gen of Ordnance ditto and Inspector-Gen of Ordnance, Bengal and Bonbay. He served in Afghan War 1879-80, and against the Afridis (mentioned in despatches); retired 1895.

1. He married Flora Oxenden in Kensington, London, England in 1886 (Ref 4).

2. In 1901 he was living at 25 Bollingbrooke Road, Hammersmith, London, England and he was a colonel, Late Royal Artillery Officer in 1901 (Ref 5).

3. He passed away in 1903 (Ref 6).

4. His probate was dated 20 May 1903 and the Beneficiary was Daniel G Neligan (ref 7). There is a Daniel Neligan who m. 17 Jul 1937 to Julia O'Connell, Entry No 123 for RC Church of Ashford at Newcastle West in Co Limerick (Ref 2 below).
