Katherine Ganze Mahoney was called to her home in Paradise on Saturday, December 12, 2015.

She was the 9th of 13 children born to Emil Max and Eliza Jane Ganze. Born in Poynor, Texas on April 17, 1920. Her family moved to Pursley, Texas in 1925 where she grew up and found the love of her life, J.C. Mahoney also from Pursley. She and J.C. were blessed with three children, Marshall R. Mahoney, Rita Mahoney Dominy and David L. Mahoney.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents E.M and Eliza Ganze, husband, J.C. Mahoney, son Marshall R. and her six brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Rita and husband Dan Dominy and son, David and wife Sharon Mahoney all of Corsicana. Also five grandchildren: Paige and husband, Richard Downs of Arlington, Dana and husband Michael Wetzel of Doniphan, Missouri, Wes and wife Lea Dominy of Corsicana, Kammi and husband Nathan Ellis of Waxahachie and Justin Mahoney of Corsicana. She also leaves nine great grandchildren: Madison Downs, Colin and Lily Dominy, Logan Wetzel, Acie and Jaxsen Mahoney, and Casey, Tatum and Listan Ellis. She is also survived by a number of dear nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening, December 14, 2015 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. December 15, 2015 at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Retreat, Texas with Sam Dilbeck officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons, Wes and Colin Dominy, Richard Downs, Nathan and Casey Ellis, Justin Mahoney and Michael and Logan Wetzel.

Katherine spent most of her life as a homemaker where she found her greatest joy and fulfillment in giving her family the best of her time and talents. While always making her home her primary career, she also spent time visiting, cooking and preparing food and delicacies for neighbors, friends and others in need.

After the death of her husband she enjoyed serving as a hostess and demo lady at Brookshires Food Store at the Navarro Mall. As cooking was her cherished talent, she loved preparing the products to demo and interacting with all the patrons at the store.

As the initial stages of dementia began to approach she was forced to cease caring for her oldest son who was struggling with Parkinson and cancer. She became a resident at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village in 2012 where she shared joy and cheer with her familiar smile.

She was a faithful member of the Westhill Church of Christ. Throughout her life she loved to teach children's Bible classes and relished caring for the toddlers in the congregation's Cradle Roll Class.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the administration, nurses, staff and every care-giver of the Heritage Oaks Retirement Village. You made her struggles more bearable and less troublesome with your daily care and attentiveness to her needs during these past three years. We also want to thank Dr. Bill McHenry and Dr. Kent Rogers and their staff for their professional services through the years.

Special thanks to all the friends and loved ones who offered prayers and encouragement. We will always treasure the memory of her Westhill brothers and sisters who sent cards and dropped by to check on her.
