Transcript of Will of William John Geddis of Ballypitmave – died 13 November 1879
In the name of God Amen I William John Geddis of the Townland of Ballypitmave Parish of Glenavy & County of Antrim being of Sound mind memory & understanding do make the following as my last will & Testament First I will devise & bequeath to my beloved wife Harriet Miriam Geddis all the land which I now hold in the Parishes of Glenavy & Ballinderry adjoining each other with stock crop Farming utensils & which may be therein at my decease during her natural life. After my wifes death I devise & bequeath to my eldest son James Geddis the farm which I now hold in the Parish of Ballinderry containing Twenty six acres be the same more or less. I will devise & bequeath to my second son William John Geddis the Farm of lands known as Longstown farm, all but two fields which I allow to go to Herdmans farm. I will devise & bequeath to my third son Langford Geddis the farm known as Herdmans farm & they two fields off the upper part of Longstown farm which my sons are all to get their farms after my wifes decease. I will devise & bequeath to my two youngest sons namely Robert George Geddis & Thomas Edmond Geddis the sum of One hundred pounds sterling each. I will devise & bequeath to my three daughters namely Maria Geddis, Jane Geddis & Harriet Miriam Amelia Geddis the sum of Fifty pounds sterling each, all these legacies to be paid off my property after my wifes decease, after my funeral expenses & all my just debts are paid. I bequeath the remainder of my property & chattels if any to my wife Harriet Miriam Geddis. I nominate & appoint my beloved wife Harriet Miriam Geddis of the Townland of Ballypitmave & Thomas Thompson of the Townland of Ballymacoy Parish of Glenavy as my executors & Trustees to this my last Will and Testament Signed & declared by William John Geddis the Testator in our presence who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto Dated this fourth day of December One thousand eight hundred & Seventy eight being first truly read before making his mark.
