Extract from news paper: (Unfortunately no details of which newspaper or date of article) "Mr and Mrs. D. Geering, 71, Brighton Road, Newhaven, have been notified by the War Office that their son, Leonard Francis Geering, is missing in the Middle East. He was serving with the Royal Tank Regiment. Known to all his friends as Len, he is one of five brothers who have played for the Newhaven Football Club, and four of them are serving with the Forces, while his sister Miss Charlotte Geering, is serving with the W.R.N.S. The brothers are Arthur, Jack, Joe, Len and Jeff, and the last four mentioned have played for the club in County League matches. "
