Aganetha (Giesbrecht) Penner was born in Manitoba, Canada.

Aganetha Penner, nee Giesbrecht, was born August 21, 1887 at Steinbach, Manitoba,[1]and departed from this life on December 3, 1947, 6:50 P. M. in our home, near Loretta, Manitoba. She reached the age of sixty years, 3 months and twelve days. She with her parents moved to Greenland, where she received her education and grew to womanhood. We were married on August 18, 1905,[2] and made our first home in Alberta. While there we felt our lost condition, repented of our sins, found peace with God and were added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, through baptism. In October 1907 we moved to Larvae, Manitoba, where we shared joys and sorrows 42 years. Our union was blessed with 12 children. Mother's pathway was not always strewn with roses.

Last Spring she had a fall, injuring her hip severely, which caused much suffering. Her health improved in so far that she was able to go visiting at times. In the latter part of November her health again began to fail. In the night of November 27, she became paralized, loosing her speech, but remaining clear in the mind till the end. She prepared to meet her God and left us the assurance that she went to heaven. She leaves to mourn her departure, her loving and deeply bereaved husband, two daughters, eight sons, her mother, three sisters, three brothers, and a host of relatives and friends. One son and one daughter preceded her in death. We mourn not as those without hope, for we believe that mother has gone to dwell with her Lord in those beautiful mansions above. The Family.

Funeral services were conducted in the Greenland Church, Dec. 7, 1947. Opening was made by J. H. Wiebe, and John M. Penner spoke from Scriptures 2 Kings 20:1-10. Additions by Brothers John P. Dueck and P. A. Penner.

Interment was made in the nearby cemetery.[3]
