Biography
Arthur Charles Gilleland was born in 1886 in Crookwell, New South Wales (Australia). He was the sixth surviving and youngest son of John Gilleland and Maria Wiggins. [1] The family moved about rural New South Wales, as evidenced by the birth of his siblings in Orange, Dubbo, Young, Argyle and Crookwell; before settling in Molong, on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range.
Arthur married Laura Johns in 1909 in Sydney, New South Wales. [2]
Having been widowered for eleven years, Arthur passed away, aged 68 years, in 1955 in Burwood, New South Wales. [3]
