Biography

Thomas Collins Gillett was born in 1841 in Stourton Caundle, Dorset, England to George Gillett and Ann (Tolley) Gillett. His birth was registered in Sturminster, Dorset in the second quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Tolley.^[1]

Thomas Collins Gillet, son of George & Ann, was christened on 9 May 1842 in Caundle-Stourton.^[2]

In 1851 Thomas C Gillett (age 9, At Home) lived at Higher Wood Row in Caundle Stourton with his father George (67, Farmer), mother Ann (56), and five siblings: Elizabeth (30), Robert (29), Ruth (23), Edward (20), and Rosetta (17).^[3]

In 1861 Thomas Gillett (age 19, Farmer Son) lived in Stourton Caundle in the household of his brother Edward (26, Farmer of 200 Acres Employing 3men & 2boys), along with his sister Ruth (30).^[4]

Thomas Gillett (age 21, son of George Gillett) married Elisheba Bullock (age 20, daughter of Robert Bullock) on 28 Jun 1866 in Holwell, Dorset.^[5] The marriage was registered in Sherborne, Dorset in the second quarter of the year.^[6]
