Biography

The daughter of Jordan Alexander Goins (1878-1947) and Susan A. Litton (1881-1953), Elizabeth Goins was born in Hickman County, Tennessee. [citation needed] in 1905, residing with her family in Civil District 2.[1] By 1920, Lizzie and her family lived in Civil District 1 of Williamson County, Tennessee.[2] Her siblings included:

  3. Sarah Lee Goins (1906-1990)
  4. Daniel A. Goins (1907-1983)
  5. Ellen Fatima Goins (1910-2001)
  6. Ruby Emma Goins (1913-1931)

  8. Elson Claggett Goins (1917-1975)
  9. Claggett Peter Goins (1919-1975)
  10. Lucy May Goins (1921-1931)
  11. Lillian Adele Goins (1925-2017)

Lizzie married Garrett Turman Edwards (1874-1948), the son of Jesse Beck Edwards and Nancy Jane Bradford, his second wife, marrying in Williamson County, Tennessee on August 6, 1920, having received the marriage license the same day.[3][4] There was a 31-year age difference between Lizzie and her husband-at the time of their marriage, Lizzie was 14 years old and Garret Edwards was 45. They had one son together, Alex B. E Edwards (1921-1967) and made their home in Williamson County's Civil District 1, farming.[5][6]

Widowed in 1948 after her husband's death at the age of 73,[7] Lizzie remarried the next year, marrying widower Charles Stinson, marrying in Nashville, Tennessee on November 21, 1949.[8] They made their home in Williamson County, farming.[9]

Elizabeth Stinson died of fibrochrondrosarcoma at the age of 52, passing away at Bennett's Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.[10] She is buried with her first husband an Anglin Cemetery in Deerfield, Tennessee.[11]
