Biography

When George Frank Gokey was born on September 16, 1897, in Jamestown, New York, his father, George, was 26 and his mother, Louise, was 27. He was living in Jamestown, New York, when he registered for the World War I draft. He married Clara (Bigelow) Sewell sometime between 1934 & 1940. George died on February 20, 1979, in Charleston, South Carolina, at the age of 81, and was buried in his hometown.
