Gabriel Goldney (or Gouldney) alias Farnewell, yeoman, was bailiff of the town of Chippenham, Wiltshire, in 1621, 1627 and 1633.
He was the youngest son of Henry Goldney, yeoman, of Chippenham, and Joan Downe, his wife. He was aged under 23 when his father made his will in 1572.[1]
Garbriel's upbringing was left to another famous clothier Henry Long of Whaddon (perhaps a family connection)
He married Elizabeth, the daughter of Robert Wrottesley on 28 July 1588 at Chippenham,[2]
↑ His father's will says “... Gabriell Goldney my sonne whome I ordeyne make and declare the whole only and sole Executor of this my presente laste will and testament. And I will that the said Gabriell shalbe under the gov[ern]ment and rule of the aforename Henry Longe of Whaddon clothier untill the said Gabriell shalbe at the full age of xxiij yeres ...” See The National Archives (UK).
