Biography

This profile is part of the Sulzbach Name Study.

Anna Agnes Gonder was the daughter of John Gonder and Mary (Keiter) Gonder, born in Pennsylvania on 25 November 1872. [1]

The 1880 U.S. Census recorded Anna Gonder, age 7, in the household of John Gonder (36) and Mary Gonder (35) in Jackson Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.[2]

Recorded as Anna A. Gorden, she married Harry J. Sultzbaugh at Berrysburg, Pennsylvania on 9 December 1896. Both were recorded as 23 years old. Harry was identified as a laborer, son of Jeremiah and Balthara Sultzbaugh, and resident of Berrysburg. Anna was a daughter of John Gorden (no mother's name provided) and was a resident of Loyalton; her occupation appears to be "House work."[3]

Harry J. Sultzbaugh and his wife Annie A. were recorded at Elizabethville, Pennsylvania, in the 1910 and 1920 U.S. Census. They were both recorded as 36 years old in the 1910 U.S. Census and 46 years old in the 1920 U.S. Census, and married in about 1897.[4][5] The family name was recorded as Sultzback in the 1910 Census.

Anna Agnes Sultzbach died at age 54 on 6 June 1927 at Berrysburg, Pennsylvania. She had been ill with carcinoma of the liver (cancer). Her death certificate indicates that she was born in Pennsylvania to parents John Gonder and Mary Keiter. Informant for her death certificate was Harry Sultzbach of Berrysburg (her husband). Burial was at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville, Pennsylvania.[1] She is recorded as Annie A. Sultzbaugh, 1872-1927, on the gravestone she shares with her husband, Harry Sultzbaugh.[6]
