Biography
Sir Richard John Sherlock Gooch was born on 22nd March 1930. He was the second son of Colonel Sir Robert Gooch, 11th Baronet and Lady Katherine Gooch nee Chaytor. He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire.
He retired from the military in 1963, with the rank of Captain, late of the Life Guards.
Richard succeeded to his father's title as the 12th Baronet Gooch, of Benacre Hall, Suffolk on 13th November 1978. (his older brother had pre-deceased him).
Aged 69 years, and unmarried, he passed away on 19th April 1999. He was succeeded to the baronetcy by his younger brother, Timothy Gooch MBE. [1]
