In 1731, Eleazer Goodell of Salem, Cooper bought a parcel of 75 acres of land in Sutton, from Thomas Mead and his wife Hannah, of Lexington.[1]
In 1735, Eleazer, of Sutton, cooper, sold one acre of land to John Allen of Sutton, husbandman.[2]
The will of Eleazer Goodale of Sutton, cooper, was dated 8 October 1740 and proved on 4 November 1740 in Worcester. He mentioned his wife (who is with child, which is a son, Eleazer Jr.) but not by name, his children, Rebecca (daughter of his first wife), and Hannah, and his brothers in law, Richard Singletary (executor), housewright, and Jonathan Kinney (executor), husbandman, both of Sutton.[3][4]
His inventory was taken on 13 February 1740/41 in Sutton. A separate inventory of his first wife's estate which was willed to his daughter Rebecca was also recorded.[5]
In 1741 John Witt of Marlborough was appointed guardian of his minor daughter Rebecca, age 5 years.[6]
In 1744, an account of his estate by Richard Singletary, and Jonathan Kenney was recorded which included the inventory of his wife, to Marg Witt for bringing up the young child, debts paid, appraisers, the use of the place for bringing up the children, and administration fees.[7]
In 1761, Eleazer's estate could not be divided without spoiling the whole, so it was agreed upon to Asa Este, who married Rebecca Goodale, and the deceased's widow Hannah, now wife of Nathan Hiscock in right of her children.[4]
In 1762, Daniel Greenwood administrator of his minor son Eleazer Jr. (now deceased) recorded an account of the estate.[4] And in 1769, Eleazer Jr's estate was divided among his siblings, Rebecca Estes, wife of Asa Estes, Hannah Burley, Lydia Harwood, wife of Ezra Harwood, Molly Bugbee, wife of Jedediah Bugbee, and Nathan Hiscock, David Hiscock, Sarah Hiscock, and Stephen Hiscock.
At one point the last name changed Goodale to Goodell. Some records show Goodale while others show Goodell. His kids last names are recorded as Goodell.
