Ben was born September 27, 1949 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles county, California, USA. He was the only child of Marcus Goodrich and Olivia de Havilland.[1]
His great grandfather, Benjamin Briggs Goodrich, was a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence.[2]
Ben was a graduate of the University of Texas with a Master's degree and later worked at Lockheed Aerospace in California as a statistical analyst. Prior to his death, he had returned to the University of Texas to work on his doctorate.
He died at the age of 42 of a heart ailment brought on by treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma for which he was initially diagnosed about age 19. His death took place on September 29, 1991 in Paris, France and his funeral services were held there at the American Cathedral.[3]
