hearing that you are yet alive I do feel a great desire to see you and employ for a few moments in writing to inform you as brief as possible the degree of anxiety I feel while you are absent in your behalf. I seems a long time since I saw you. I have almost burried you many a time, But when we recieved (sic) your letter my heart lept for joy in hopes I should once more behold the child of my bosom & I do hope that you will come home from Portland. Oh! Silas be sure not to disappoint us & if it is not convienent [consistent?] for you to come home write and someone will see you there, no pains would be spared if we were sure of seeing you, write what vessel you sail in & what Capt. Henry is coming home this summer.
Your Mother,
Nancy Godwin
