Biography

John was born 23 April 1593. He was the son of Ferdinando Gorges and Anne Bell, the daughter of Edward Bell.^[1][2]

31 Jul 1620 "John Gorges, eldest son of Sir Ferdinando Gorges, kt., and the Lady Frances Fynes, daughter of the Earl of Lincoln.^[2] aka Lady Francis Clinton.^[1]

He married (2nd) Mary, daughter of Sir John Meade of Wendon Loftus, Essex. Mary was buried 15 Sep 1657 at St. Margaret's Westminster.^[2]

He was buried at St. Margaret's 6 April 1657.^[2]

His will, dated 5 Mar 1656, proved 1 June 1657, mentioned his wife Mary Gorges, and son Ferdinando, to whom he left his Patent of the Province of Maine in New England.^[2]
