See research note on husband Philip White's page. Mary was born in 1790. She was the daughter of David Gorton and Alice Whiteford. She passed away in 1843, Orangeville, Wyoming, NY.

From the book - The Life and Times of Samuel Gorton... - by Adelos Gorton (published in 1907, Philadelphia) the author provides a genealogy on page 259 of Philip White and Mary Gorton's family group. He has the following to say: "MARY GORTON [6th in line] (David, Joseph, Sam'l, Sam'l, Sam'l [1st in line]) b. 1790, Warwick, R.I., died September 10, 1843 Orangeville, N.Y., married Philip White, son of Peter and Jemima White.
