[4] He embarked for the Middle East on 18th October at Sydney aboard HMAT Afric A19. [5] Allocated to the 1st Infantry Battalion, he saw action on both Gallipoli and the Western Front. He returned to Australia 12th May 1918. [4]
William married a second time, to Georgina Wilson in 1920 in Victoria. [6] Whether they had further children together is presently unknown.
Aged about 44 years, William passed away in 1930 in East Malvern, Victoria. [7] He was survived by Georgina, and his two sons from his first marriage.
