Biography

Anna was born in 1855. Annas parents: Skräddare (tailor) Johan Andersson, Sofia Helander.

In 1880 Anna, her husband and daughter emigrates to USA. They left Sweden aboard the ship Avanti^[1] and eventually arrived in Boston, Massachusettes aboard the ship America. Their stated final destination was Iowa.^[2]

In 1880, Anna is now Amanda Anderson and is living in Clinton, Clinton County, Iowa with her husband and daughter Annie.^[3]

Research Notes

• The family may have moved to California between 1880 and 1910. There is a family in Oakland Ward 3, Alameda, California, USA on the 1910 Census, Josephine, John G, Carl (16), Minnie (14). Both children are born in Iowa. The 1890 census was destroyed by fire, they will need to be located on the 1900 census. There is a John and Josephine in the 1900 Sioux Valley, Jackson, Minnesota census, but they have a son born in 1880 and their Anna is listed as born 3 years later in Feb 1883. George could have been born after the 1880 census was taken, the original Anna could have died and they could have renamed another child Anna in 1883.
