Biography

"Mrs. Charles Elliott Anthony and Mrs. Edmund Russel Hurlbut gave a progressive euchre party from 2 until 6 o'clock yesterday [17 February 1896] at the home of Mrs. Anthony, No. 225 Hamilton street. The decorations were palms, daffodils, and pink carnations. Refreshments were served in the library, where twenty tables were set."^[1]

Subsequently a bid euchre club was formed with play occurring every two weeks at the home of one of the club members. The first meeting was set for 9 November 1896 at the home of Mrs. Charles Elliott Anthony, No. 225 Hamilton Street.^[2]
