Biography

Roland Green was born at Loose, near Maidstone in Kent, probably in early 1857. He was the son of John Barcham Green and his wife Emma, born Emma Crandall. ^{[1] [2] [3]}

In 1861 Roland Green was living at Hayle Mill near Tovil, with his parents, John Barcham Green and Emma Green, and their other children. His age was given as 4, implying a birth date in 1856 or 1857. His birthplace was given as Loose, Kent. He was at school. ^[2]

In 1881 Roland Green was living at Princes Mill at Cores End in the parish of Wooburn in Buckinghamshire, with 2 domestic servants. His age was given as 24, implying a birth date in 1856 or 1857. His birthplace was given as Maidstone, Kent. He was a paper manufacturer. ^[4]

Hayle Mill seems to actually be in the parish of Loose, but it is much nearer Tovil, and is usually said to be at Tovil.
