Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch Levi was the president of Heywood-Wakefield Company, one of the preeminent furniture manufacturers in the United States at the time. He was a Massachusetts State Senator from 1909-1913 and Senate president from 1912-1913. A family story held him responsible (in a way) for the rise of Calvin Coolidge. Toward the end of his term as Senate president, one of his fellow senators (next in line for the presidency) asked if he would stand for another term. When Levi answered "yes", the colleague said he would retire. If the answer had been "no" he would have stayed and become Senate president. As it turned out, Levi ran on the Bull Moose ticket with Teddy Roosevelt and lost, whereupon Calvin Coolidge became Senate president and thereafter Massachusetts governor and U.S. president.
