"Robert "Bob" Winfield Gregg, 88, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 19, 2013.
Bob was preceded in death by his son, Ervin Gregg, from a tragic accident. He worked with the Buncombe County School System as Custodian at TC Roberson High School until he retired. He attended Swannanoa Free Will Baptist Church in Swannanoa. Bob was a special man who made an impact during his life on a multitude of friends and family through his kind, caring, teasing and gentle spirit. He will be remembered by his family as a warm, loving, and devoted husband, father and Pap-Paw who will definitely be missed.
He was survived by his wife Thelma Irene Gregg of 65 years, two daughters, Helen Robinson of Weaverville, Carolyn and husband Stanley Williams of Black Mountain; a son, Robert "Curly" Gregg of Weaverville; three grandchildren, Nicholas Gregg of the home, Fermor Williams of Black Mountain and Tammy Roberts of Asheville and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Cathy Stirewalt of Weaverville, Edna Whitt of Raleigh, Florence Willis of Mars Hill and Virginia Crawford of Weaverville and a brother Ted Gregg of Weaverville.
A funeral service was held 2:00 pm Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Officiating was Rev. Jack Ward and Rev. Philip Wilson. The burial was in the Maney Cemetery . The family received friends one hour prior to the service at Blue Ridge Funeral Service, 7626 Hwy 213, Mars Hill NC .
The family would like to thank the many friends and family for the love, support and prayers over the past several months. Thanks to Tommy Morgan whom he thought was the greatest nurse at St. Joseph. Also, thanks to the Hospice Solace Center who made his last days comfortable.""[3][4]
