Biography

Mary Ann Griffin was born in about 1846 at Bladon in Oxfordshire. She was the daughter of Edmund Griffin and his wife Isabella or Isabel, born Isabella Hutchings. ^[1] She was baptised at the parish church of Bladon on 17 May 1846 as the daughter of Edmund and Isabella Griffin of Bladon. He father was described as a labourer. ^[2]

In 1851 M. Griffin was living at Bladon with her parents Edward and Isable and their other children. Her age was given as 4, implying a birth date in 1846 or 1847. Her birthplace was given as Bladon, Oxfordshire. ^[1]

John Slatter, aged 21, a carpenter, of Bladon, son of Gabriel Slatter, shoemaker; and Mary Griffin, aged 19, of Bladon, daughter of Edmund Griffin, labourer; were married at the parish church of Bladon on 2 April 1866. ^[3]
