Biography

Lydia was born to Parents Joseph R. Griffith (1822–1901) and Catherine J. Griffith (1831–1888)

In 1871 she married Alex Anderson at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Freeport. Jos. Anderson, brother of Aleck, was witness, along with his wife Floy Ulam (?).

OBITUARY (from Memorial website) ANDERSON – Died at her home, Fifth street, Wednesday morning, March 28th, at 1 o'clock a.m., of consumption, Mrs. Lidie G. Anderson, in her 37th year. Mrs. Anderson has been sick for a long time and hence her death was not unexpected. She was perfectly conscious up to the last moment and had every detail for her funeral service and burial planned just as it is being carried out. She did not want any mourning worn, dirges chanted or eulogies spoken. She selected the hymns, "Sweet Rest at Home: and "Sweet Bye and Bye" which she wanted all who attend the funeral service to sing. She also desired to be buried early in the morning when the birds were singeing. Lidie was a good Christian woman, whose loss to husband, only daughter and all the family cannot be measure by words. To say more would do violence to her oft expressed wishes and we many only tender to all the bereaved ones the sympathy of one who, with them, feels the loss of a dear friend. Services at the house Thursday evening at 7 o'clock. Funeral Friday morning, private.
