Note: Yes, Demont married a Catherine "Rebecca" (she usually went by Rebecca, her middle name) CARPENTER who was the mayor of Lancaster, PA's daughter in 1855 or 1856 circa, I have not found the exact date yet. They had 4 sons, EGAN who died at 11 months, Wesley, ALBERT C, and Edgar. When Demont moved to Illinois around 1881 his son Albert moved to Reading,Pa and started my line. Terry Mason is also related to the Carpenters, he has no info on the Morenzy's except for what I gave him, as his ggrandfather was a cousin to Rebecca's father Michael Carpenter. MHead is "my best friend" she lives in England and is helping me with the search for Demont (his early years over there.) Demont Fairmont Morenzy married Sarah Elizabeth Ryder on October 18, 1883 at the home of her father Charles Ryder in Madison County, Illinois. Her mother's name was Mary N. Ryder. I will dig out my files and get the maiden name of Mary to you. Demont graduated medical school in 1854 from the then Philadelphia College of Medicine and Surgery. He lived in Lancaster, PA as early as 1852, as I have his name from that year on a declaration of intent to become a US citizen.(He applied for citizenship) He did gain his naturalization in Sept. 1855. I do know his birthname was not Demont F. Morenzy, but as you know it may be a corruption of the name de Montmorency, as he had a very upper class, classical education as a child in England and he would have had to have someone with means paying for this education, as the lower class would have been lucky to even get to school. Note: Demont's first wife was my gggrandmother. She died in 1876 and in 1883 he moved to Illinois and married Sarah E. Ryder, by whom he had 2 daughters, Letitia Adeline,and Zoe Morenzy. I do have a marriage license for Sarah and Demont as well as some info on the Ryder's and Zoe. It is nice to find relatives out there. Zoe's grandson has been in touch with me as well. I hope you don't mind my writing to you, but if you would want any info on Demont I would be glad to share it. Let me know what you need. It is funny to write to you at this time, as just yesterday, I had found that Demont and my gggrandmother had a son that died at the age of 11 months old, I had never had this info before. He did have 3 other sons with her, 2 never married or had children but his middle son started my line. I live in West Reading, Pa.
