Biography

Biagia Grizzaffi is born around 1737-41 in Corleone, the daughter of Gaspare Grizzaffi and Rosa Manciameli. Her mother's surname is known from the record of Rosa's brother's marriage in 1765.

Biagia is called "Rosalia" in the record of her marriage to Angelo Castro, on 16 January 1758. Her parents are both living at this time.

Biagia and Angelo have at least nine children: Bernardo (1768), Antonino (1770), Gaspare (1775), Pietro (1777), Giuseppe (1780), Maria (1782), Leoluca (c. 1784), Settimo (1784), and Rosa (c. 1791).

Bernardo is born and baptized 5 February 1768, named after his paternal grandfather. His godparents are Maestro Giovanni Ducibella and Leoluchina, wife of Giuseppe Mancuso.[1]

Antonino is born 9 December 1770 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Maestro Antonino Colletto and Nunzia, the wife of Pietro Governali.

Gaspare is born and baptized 22 September 1775, named after his maternal grandfather. His godparents are Pasquale Pennino and Anna Terranova, who are both unmarried.[2]

Pietro is born 4 December 1777 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Maestro Pietro and Arcangela Ponzo, a married couple.[3]

Giuseppe is born and baptized 9 February 1780. His godparents are Luca and Anna Maria Trumbatore, a married couple.[4]

Maria is born and baptized 28 July 1782. Her godparents are Maestro Salvatore Petrusa and Domenica Faiia, wife of Maestro Vincenzo Faiia.[5]

Rosa is born around 1791, based on her reported age at death. She is named after her maternal grandmother.

I have estimated Leoluca is 20 when he marries.

Settimo is born 28 January 1784 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Leonardo and Marianna Colletto, mother and son.[6]

Bernardo marries Giuseppa Cuccio on 27 April 1795. Angelo and Biagia are living at this time.

Death of Angelo

Angelo dies at age 68 (b. 1730) on 5 July 1798. Biagia survives him.

Pietro marries Vita Salemi on 10 October 1802.

Gaspare marries Anna Lucera on 16 January 1803.

Antonino marries Serafina Billitti (called "Delfina" in the record of their marriage, but no where else) on 6 February 1803. Serafina is adopted. She shares a surname with Antonino's mother.

Leoluca marries Rosa Terrusa on 30 April 1804.

In 1807 Biagia, 66 (b. 1741), lives in vicino il stazzone in Corleone, with her children Giuseppe, 23 (b. 1784), Settimo, 20 (b. 1787), and Rosa, 17 (b. 1790).

Rosa marries Vincenzo Gennusa on 28 July 1811. Biagia is called "Rosa" in this record.

Settimo marries Giuseppa Trumbadore on 27 August 1815.

Death of Biagia

Biagia dies at around age 80 (b. 1737) on 5 October 1817.

Giuseppe marries Salvatrice Morello on 30 March 1818.

Antonino dies, reportedly at around age 45 (he is 49) on 9 August 1820. His wife, Serafina, survives him.

Gaspare dies at age 60 on 9 July 1836. His wife survives him.

Bernardo dies at age 68 (b. 1768) on 21 August 1836, the widower of Giuseppa. Both of their death records call his wife Giuseppa Dina.

Settimo dies at age 70 (b. 1769) on 1 September 1839, the widower of Giuseppa.

Rosa dies at age 66 (b. 1791) on 19 February 1857. She is the widow of Vincenzo Gennusa.

Pietro dies at age 80 on 1 September 1858. Vita survives him. The record of his death calls his mother Caterina Grizzaffi.
