Letitia (Grout) Smith was born in Australia

Letitia Grout was born during an aboriginal attack on the property "Thistle Hill" where her parents lived at Musket Flat, near Maryborough, Queensland, Australia. [1]

Letitia Grout was born on 8 July 1866 at "Thistle Hill" Musket Flat, Queensland. She was the fifth child of six children to be born to Blacksmith and Wheelwright Robert Grout and his wife Catherine Fitzgerald. [2]

21 year-old Letitia Mary Catherine Grout wed 36 year-old Lumberer, Thomas Boldery on 3 December 1887 at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Maryborough, Queensland. [3]

Letitia and Thomas were parents to 11 children.

On the 1903 Australian Electoral Roll for the Elliott, Queensland, polling place, Letitia, with her husband Tom Boldery, were both listed as residing at Musket Flat, where he was a Timbergetter. [4]

The family were still living at Musket Flat when Letitia's husband of almost 25 years passed away at their home "Thistle Hill" Musket Flat, Queensland in 1912. She was pregnant with their last child at the time. [5]

In 1916, Letitia remarried to teamster, Charles Joseph Smith, at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Maryborough, Queensland on 20 December. [6] [7]

The 1921 Australian Electoral Roll indicated that Letitia was still living at "Thistle Hill" with the area renamed Aramara, Queensland. Husband Charlie Smith was a Teamster. [8]

By 1930, Charlie Smith had retired as a Teamster, and with Letitia, had been living at Richmond Lane, Maryborough, Queensland for seven months. [9]

On 13 March 1930, Letitia passed away at her home in Richmond Lane, Maryborough at the age of 63 years 8 months. Cause of death was attributed to Chronic Diarrhoea (3 years), Asthma, and Bronchitis (5 days). [10][11]

Letitia was laid to rest on 14 March 1930 in the Maryborough Cemetery, Roman Catholic Section, Maryborough, Queensland. [12][13]
