Biography
Elizabeth 'Bessie' Otway Gertrude Groves was born about 1900. She was the daughter of Charles Groves and Edith Elizabeth Browne. [1]
Bessie married Joe Sheehy, a barrister and, later, a judge, on 26th April 1927 in Brisbane. [2]
When Joe was knighted in 1970 Bessie became entitled as Lady Sheehy (Joe's older brother Christopher had been knighted in 1959 and his widow, Ruby, was also Lady Sheehy).
Aged 86 years, she passed away on 3rd June 1987 in Brisbane and is buried in the Brisbane General Cemetery, Toowong. [3]
