Biography

Moriz Gueth was born as son of farmer Ignaz Gueth and his wife Elisabeth Görig in Oberbergen.^[1][2]

On 12 October 1812 he married Elisabeth Löffler, daughter of glass maker Joseph Löffler and Franziska Winterhalter. Both him (27) and her (33) were single.^[2] Until her death on 4 March 1828,^[3] they had three children together.^[4]

Farmer^[3] Moriz married on 27 October 1828 his first cousin Magdalena Görig.^[5], with whom he had at least another five children,^[4] before them and Moritz' surviving children Casimir, Franziska and Regina migrated to the US.

They arrived on 25 September 1840 in New York on the ship Saratoga from Le Havre.^[6]

Another daughter named Mary Ann must have been born around the time, because the 1850 census shows her aged 10 years living with her family in Paint Township, Clarion, Pennsylvania:^[7]

The 1860^[8] and 1870^[9] census have Moritz/Maurice Good and his wife living with the family of his son Casimir.

Maurice died in January 1872 and is buried on Saint Michael Catholic Cemetery in Fryburg, Clarion, Pennsylvania.^[10]

Research notes

While his headstone is in Fryburg,^[10] the family search profile claims his death to have occurred in Knox Township (both Clarion County, Pennsylvania). This was his place of residence in the 1870 census at least.^[9]
