Thomas Hare"Drew" served with the 1st SC Infantry (Butler's) as a Pvt. He was was captured 7 Sep 63 and on Oct 9 1863 was transferred to Johnson's Island: [1]
There were only 2 cards showing, one shows "See Manuscript 3088" and "Received at Hilton Head SC. Nothing is further is know but he was not listed in 1870 with wife Mary Caroline and children; perhaps Mss #3088 will be informative. [2]
Enlisted on January 23, 1862 at Chesterfield, South Carolina in the 1st South Carolina, Butler's, Company A, "The Keowee Riflemen", from Pickens/Occonee, South Carolina. Captured September 7, 1863 at Morris Island. Transferred to Hammond General Hospital November 1863. Died of disease as a POW.
