Biography

Rose Mary Hall was born 25 January 1915 and was registered in the Lincoln district of Lincolnshire. Her mother's maiden name was given as Lowe.^[1] Rose was baptised a year later on 23 January 1916 in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, daughter of Bert Howsam Hall and his wife Mary.^[2]Her parents, Bertie H Hall and Mary Lowe had been married in the Lincoln district in 1914.^[3] A search of the 1921 census on Find My Past suggests that her father was not in the household.

In the 1939 Register, Rose (age 24), was living with her mother, Mary and step-father Joseph Bristow, at 3a Watermill Road, Horncastle, Lincolnshire, England.^[4] The entry above her was redacted and could possibly be her sister Lilian.

On June 12th 1840, the Grimsby Evening Telegraph reported the following: "The marriage took place at Horncastle Parish Church yesterday between Wallis Bourne Simpson... of Furzehills Farm, West Ashby, and Miss Rosemary Hall... of Watermill Road, Horncastle." Also mentioned were his parents Mr & Mrs W Simpson, her mother, Mrs J Bristow, her step-father Mr J Bristow, and her sister Miss Lilian J Hall.^[5][6]

Rose's death was registered in the second quarter of 1976 in the GRANTHAM district, 2 years following the death of her husband.^[7]

Research Notes

• No marriage for a Wallis B Simpson (or Wallace) found after the 1839 Registration. Newspaper article for marriage searched by Rose Hall returned a marriage registration index for Walter B Simpson that would clearly be the correct place and time.^[6]
• 1921 Census was only a search. No actual record was accessed.
