James was born about 1824.

He married Ellen Gleeson.

They had seven (known) children:

• Mary Anne (1859-1950) aka Sr. Mary Thecla, immigrated to USA in 1880.
• William Joseph (1864-1939)^[1][2] immigrated to Newfoundland prior to 1887
• John Stephen (1865-)
• Patrick Francis (1866-1916)^[3][4]
• James (1866-1936-)^[5]
• Michael A. (1869/1876-?)^[6][7] - possibly two sons, one dying young; immigrated to USA about 1890
• Margaret A. (1877-)

He passed away in 1899.^[8]
