The Hamlin Family History states that Mary was born about 1730 and married Joseph Richards about 1750. There exists a marriage record for Joseph Richards and Mary Hamlen, which took place in Bridgewater, Massachusetts on 28 September 1742;[3] however, it cannot be this Mary, for in the settlement of her father's estate (1748) her name is written as "Mary Hamblin", with no husband listed.[4] The Hamlin Family History states Mary died at Stoughton on February 6, 1802. There is a Mary Richards who died on said date at Stoughton, denoted as wife of Joseph Richards.[5]
