When Hannah Harbaugh was born on October 2, 1845, in Pennsylvania, her father, Jacob, was 38, and her mother, Margaret, was 35. She was the first wife of Peter Skiles (1943-1915);
She died on August 3, 1897, in Greene, Pennsylvania, at the age of 51, and was buried in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania.[3]

Mrs. Peter Skiles died suddenly at her home near Pierceville, Tuesday night, August 3, 1897, of paralysis.[5] She was born October 2, 1845. Her maiden name was Hannah Harbaugh. She leaves two sons, Harry and Edwin, and two daughters, Mrs. McCarty of Uniontown, and Mrs. Frank Stone of Carmichaels, who with their father, mourn the loss of a beloved mother.
For several years, Mrs. Skiles was a member of the Grove Baptist Church, and later of the Central Christian Church, Uniontown. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, at 2 p.m. by Rev. William M. Hudson, of the New Providence Presbyterian Church and the remains laid to rest in the church grave yard.
