Biography

Annie (Harbottle) Horsfield was born in Yorkshire, England.

Ann was born in 1844. ^[1] She was the daughter of Robert Harbottle and Emma Tunstall, and was Christened on 2 June 1844 at West Street Chapel, Hull. ^[2]

Her father died when she was young and by 1851 ^[3] she is living with her mother and her new husband John Thompson Ellis at Wapping Wall, St. Paul's Shadwell, London, where John Ellis works as a Carpenter. She also has a half brother Edmund John Ellis age 2 and baby half sister Emma Catherine. In 1861 ^[4] the family are living in Bridge Street, Worksop. She is now 16 and working as a General Servant. Her grandfather Isaac Tunstall is also living with them and at age 75 he is working as a Station Master. In 1865 she had a daughter Emma Elizabeth Harbottle in Worksop.

In 1874 she married Frederick Horsfield in Hunslet, Leeds, Yorkshire, ^[5] and by 1881 ^[6] they are living in Pearson's Court, West leeds and have a daughter, Agnes 6, and three sons Henry 4, George 1 and baby Frederick, as well as Ann's daughter Emma 15. Frederick works as a Coachman.

In 1891 ^[7] they have moved to laud Court, Leeds. In 1901 ^[8] they are in Greaves Place, Hunslet, Leeds. Fred's parents Johnathan, 81 and Mary Horsfield 76, are also living with them.

In 1911 ^[9] they are in West End Place, Holbeck, Leeds and only son Frederick 29, is still living at home. They have noted that they have been married 36 years and had seven Children (which would include Annie's first daughter Emma).

She likely passed away in Holbeck in 1922, age 76. ^[10]
