Nellie (Hare) Taylor was born in Lincolnshire, England.
Mary Ellen, known as Nellie, was born in 1886[1] in Horncastle, Lincolnshire, England, where she lived with her parents, Reuben Hare and Rachel Martin.[2][3]

In 1907 Nellie married Richard Taylor in Doncaster, Yorkshire.[4][5] The family lived in Epworth in 1911 and Richard was a farm labourer.[6]
