JUMPED WRONG WAY. At Thirsk, yesterday, a verdict of "Accidental death" was returned at the adjourned inquest on Robert Henry Wrigglesworth (37), of 5, North Eastern Crescent, York, a relief porter-signalman, who was knocked down and killed by a light engine travelling from Newcastle to York, near Otterington last Friday. Lieut. Colonel Innes N. Ware sat with a jury of seven.
Robert Peacock, of 29, Kensington Street, South Bank, York, said that as he was bringing a light engine back from Newcastle he saw Wrigglesworth in a half-turning position, talking and gesticulating to the driver of a train going north. Wrigglesworth heard witness’s warning shout but jumped the wrong way. [7]
