Mary was born on the 7 May 1867 in Auckland.[1]. She is the daughter of William Phillip Hargrave and Ann (Coffey) Hargrave
She married Edward George Denize on the 21 Oct 1891 in Auckland, New Zealand.[2]
They had 5 children;
In 1894 Edward opened a butcher's shop in Pitt Street. In 1896 Edward and Mary lost their only daughter Lucy. It would be 6 years before they would have another child.
About the end of 1895 the butchers shop was sold and they moved to Coromandel and opened a butcher's shop there; later Edward tried flax-milling, helped Johnny to get established in the coach business, and eventually went farming. He became prominent in a number of local bodies and sports organizations. He was chairman of the Coromandel District High School for 20 years, and a member of both the County Council and the Hospital Board.
They stopped farming around 1914
Edward died in 1939. Mary died in 1945 at the age of 78.[3] She is buried in the Buffalo Cemetery in Coromandel, New Zealand. [4]
