Biography

Birth and Origins

Elizabeth Deane Hargrave was the daughter of William Hargrave, physician and surgeon, and Elizabeath Deane (possibly daughter of Robert Deane and Susanna Chatterton). She was b. c. 1825

Marriage and Family

She married Alexander Sharp Deane (jnr) on 30 June 1851 at Dublin.

On 30 June 1851, Alexander Sharp Deane (minor, Esq, son of Alexander Sharp, architect) married Elizabeth Deane Hargrave (full age, daughter of William Hargrave, physician & surgeon) at Parish Church of St Peter (CoI), Dublin.^[1]

They had children:

• Alexander Sharp Deane b. c. 1854 m. Marcella Amelia Moffat
• Abraham Addison Hargrave Deane b. 1856 co Dublin d. 1939
• Henry Hargrave Deane b. 1859 co Dublin d. 1928
• Reginald Deane b. c. 1862 co Dublin
• Edith Maude Adelise Deane b. 13 Oct 1864^[2] She died of lung disease (aged 18) 6 July 1882, her brother, Henry Hargrave Deane was present at her death ^[3]
• Charles Chatterton Deane b. 1867

Death

Elizabeth Deane (Hargrave) Deane died 17 September 1896 (71 years) in South Dublin, Ireland of heart disease. Her son Charles C Deane was present at her death.^[4]

In the 1901 Census, her husband was a widower (age 69, Justice of the Peace, b. City of Cork) living in 56 in Mount Street Upper (South Dock, Dublin) with his son Reginald Deane (age 38, b Dublin, married, Inspector of Lights), & his cousin H J B Hargrave (63, MA, (TCB), UICE, widower, b Dublin) & a maid^[5]
