Biography

NANCY HARNEY (1806- 1888) Born 20 Feb 1806, Nicholas co. KY, the daughter of Selby Harney and Hannah (Hopkins).

She married Eli HAZELRIGG on 24 Oct 1828, in Nicholas county, and they soon moved to Boone co., Indiana. Nancy and Eli's children include:

  • Joshua Gilbert
  • William S
    John H;
  • Permelia (spelled Pamela on some records)
  • Caroline Hazelrigg, who died in infancy.

Eli Hazelrigg died on 28 June 1847.

Nancy married Alexander B. Clark in 1856. After Mr. Clark’s death she lived with her children.

News article below (name of newspaper not known) dated1888, Boone co., Indiana: Gone To Rest. Mrs. Nancy Clark died at the residence of her son, Joshua G. Hazelrigg, at Dover, on the night of the 22d, [June] at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 2 days, and was buried at Pleasant View cemetery. She was a twin sister of John Harney, of Louisville, Ky. She was married to Eli Hazelrigg, October 24, 1828, and was the mother of eight children, of whom only three are now living - two sons and one daughter. She moved with her husband and four children from Bethel Ridge, Bath county, Ky., to Boone county in the fall of 1844, and in the spring of ‘45 settled five miles west of Lebanon, where her son William is now living. On June the 285h, 1847, death by ersysipelas (sic) robbed her of her companion. She was married to A. B. Clark in 1856. After his death she lived with her children. She made public confession of faith in Jesus Christ in youth, joined the Missionary Baptists and lived a constant Christian, showing her faith by her works, until He said, “It is enough; come up higher ...”
