Matilda Hawkins was baptised on 2 August 1818 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire as the daughter of John and Harriot Hawkins. It is stated that they live in Trowbridge and father John is a shearman.[1]
In 1841 she is registered as Matilda Hawkins, aged 20, born in the County of Wiltshire, living in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, with her father John Hawkins (40 cloth worker), her mother Harriet (40) and siblings Gideon (11), Norman (10)and Harriet (7).[2]
On 30 August 1846 she married William Luther Silcox in the Parish Church of Bradford, Wiltshire. It is stated that they are of full age, he a bachelor, carpenter living in Church Street, Bradford and she a spinster, dress-maker living in New Town, Bradford. Fathers are Stephen Silcox, gentleman and John Hawkins, cloth-dresser. Witnesses were John and Ellen Gibbs.[3] They had the following children:
In 1851 she is registered as Matilda Silcox, wife, married, aged 32, born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, living in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, with her husband Stephen Silcox (41 victualler) and their children Henry (3), Frederick (2), Albert (6 months), visitor Harriet Hawkins (18), servant Sarah Townsend (16) and lodger Jospeh Spender (51).[4]

She died Jul-Sep 1890 at the age of 72 and was buried on 27 September 1890.[5]
