Biography

Althea Haworth married William Wilkin in 1888; although I have not found a Victoria death record, he may have died before she married Alexander Turpie in 1895. By 1899 they had moved to Western Australia, where they had a daughter, but Alexander died in 1904. Althea remarried in the following year.

A correspondent writes :- ‘A quiet wedding was celebrated in St. George's Cathedral on February 11 by Bishop Riley, the contracting parties being Mr. Sherard Rawson, youngest son of the late Rev. Arthur Rawson, of Windermere, Westmorland, England, and Althea Goodridge Turpie, eldest daughter of Mr. R. J. Haworth, of Perth. A number of friends assembled to witness the ceremony, after which the wedding breakfast was served in the residence of the bride's parents, prior to the departure of the happy couple for Busselton and the Margaret River Caves. The bridegroom, who is cousin to the Governor of New South Wales (Sir Harry Rawson), intends to visit England shortly, as an extension of the honeymoon.”
