Biography

Mary Elizabeth 'Bettie' Hayes was born on May 24, 1877, in Mississippi. She married Jesse Davis Clay (1864–1936) c.1906.[1] They had at least three children:

  • Delbert Clay (1899–1974)
  • James Monroe Clay (1906–1979)[2]
  • Henry Jefferson Clay (1907–1972)

Jesse died on November 29, 1936 and Bettie died on February 5, 1943, in Alcorn, Mississippi, at the age of 65, and was buried there.[3]
