Elbert married Georgia Broome on 20 October 1898 in Knox, Tennessee, United States.^[2][3]

In the 1910 census Elbert (age 33) was the married son of T A Hays in Topeka Ward 1, Shawnee, Kansas, United States.^[4]

In the 1920 census Albert (age 41) was the married head of household in La Porte, Center Township, LaPorte, Indiana, United States.^[5]

Elbert died 14 October 1928 and was buried in Patton Cemetery, La Porte, La Porte County, Indiana, United States with a death date of 14 October 1928.^[6]
